Based on the detailed description outlined for Autumn Leaves Residential Home, my personal opinion and experience, I disagree with a couple of services:
The claim of “…delivered by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nurse aids.” I am aware of at least three homes under the business name with slight variations. In my opinion, why would one need to alter the business name repeatedly. I personally never met one Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Nurse’s Aides on staff. I question the RN on staff at all three houses 24/7, more than one location, how can one or two people be at all locations 24/7?
Fact,"hospice service is available for terminally ill patients BUT THE CLAIM OF “supporting their families through their tough times.” NOT TRUE AT ALL IN MY CASE. I personally dealt with lack of sympathy from the owner herself and her housekeeping staff which consist of her two sisters. In my opinion, nothing but mean spirited and dishonest individuals; describes my past interactions with these individuals.
All I can urge is research as much as possible. As one can see in a previous response from the owner, Wilman threatened a residents’ family member with a law suit for her review and the owner has also threatened me with a lawsuit, to include false criminal allegations towards me, in response to a review on the BBB website.
Again, in my opinion the owners’ responses show disturbing characteristics and lack of professionalism. A respectable business exhibits honest business practices.

My cousin is a FALL RISK. She is left to shower on her own. Scary! There have been several times there on Ridge Place where no toilet paper was in the bathroom of the garage converted into a bedroom. Also, no soap to wash hands. There was a large bottle of that cheap bubble bath in the shower used for showers by the residents. The bathroom only has a curtain across the open doorway, no door. No privacy. No activities, dinner around 4 pm right after the residents get back from adult daycare. They get sent to daycare even if they feel sick. Daycare staff has told our family about that. Care by the owner/RN Wilma LaCroix is not consistent and she stays elsewhere. There are no LVN's or CNA's that stay with residents. There are only "caregivers" and some of them don't know any English. My cousin keeps losing weight there. We have a chart with her weights from her doctor. The Rn does not communicate with family as she should.

Response: This review does not reflect the true quality of care which our residents receive at our small home. This review was submitted by a family member whose ultimate goal is to create public mischief after her sister who is a resident of the Home rescinded her power of attorney over her. Per her sister's report she has lived in over 5 different assisted living homes because her sister Karen Powell gets into a fight with the owners of every Home and she is given notice to leave. She did not want to leave our home because she is happy with the care which she is receiving hence the reason why she rescinded the power of attorney. This was done by the Office of the Ombudsman and the Department of Aging here in San Antonio. I have been advised by both these entities to file a lawsuit against her for defamation of character and she has been instructed by the Attorney to call yours and other companies where she posted her negative and false comments to have these remarks removed. So vindictive, spiteful and hateful is this woman's actions, that she sent me an email stating " I will put you on the internet Wilma" and she has visited EVERY website that advertises for the Autumn Leaves Home and posted these negative reviews. Some reviews were removed, but this one dated 4/15/17 and the other dated 6/24/2015 and 10/9/2015 are still being posted as of today 10/1/2017. Please feel free to contact me so that I may supply the information on the Attorney who is handling this matter. Thank You Wilma La Croix R.N. A.L.P.C.M. My email address is [email protected]

Response: In addition to my response which was posted on 10/1/2017, I also wish to bring to your attention another posting made by this individual Karen Powell on another website about another home in the San Antonio area where her sister resided before being placed in my Home. That caregiver was not even aware that Karen Powell had posted all these negative reviews about her home. She has recently closed her home because of this wicked woman's false publicity about her home. I trust that as a company which represent a wide cross section of clientele throughout the country it may be wise to seek more information when negative postings like these appear on your website and to investigate how much of this garbage is the truth, failing which you may find that you may have to defend your website postings in a court of law and accept responsibility for what ever is posted on your websites. Please note that there are lots of individuals out there who do not have a fulfilling and productive life and gain immense pleasure in surfing the internet and posting derogatory comments for the sole purpose of defaming other people. Thank You. Wilma La Croix. R.N. A.L.P.C.M.

Response: “DA” review the First Amendment, which covers freedom of speech, read the Consumer Review Fairness Act, learn what the word defamation means, and post your attorneys contact information.

This is not a safe place. There is a high turnover of the staff and not any of them are certified and are not US citizens. The put the patience do not engage in any activities and are in bed right after dinner around 5pm. The owner is very paranoid because she knows that she is not running a legitimate facility.

Response: Autumn Leaves Home has been in existence for the past 16 years. The owner is a Registered Nurse who has had many years of experience in caring for the elderly. The staff is well trained and provide excellent care to the residents. My parent has lived here for over 15 years and we were very pleased with the care

Response: please provide where this experienced staff is hired from? agency?
