The skilled nursing care in this facility leaves a lot to be desired. My sister-in-law came here after having lumbar spinal fusion surgery on her back. The only time the bandage from the surgery was changed was when she felt it leaking. It should have been changed every day following surgery, but was only changed every 2 or 3 days, whenever she asked for it. Because it was neglected in this way for almost three weeks, she left with the beginnings of a severe infection which eventually went to the bone. Although the physical rehab facility is state-of-the-art and the therapists were wonderful, every bit of advancement made in strength and endurance was lost due to infection and when she had to go back in for surgery to clean out the wound. The infection required her to go for daily IV antibiotic treatments 7 days a week, for 6 weeks. Her story continues and is still ongoing. Please do not select this facility if you or your loved one needs skilled nursing care. The spa-like looks of this facility can be deceiving!

My parents lived at Harbor's Edge for five years and my father transitioned through all levels of care including Memory Support before he passed away at age ninety. The facility is beautiful and the staff was wonderful, especially in Memory Care. It's somewhat expensive but provided great care and peace of mind for my sister and I. We knew our parents were enjoying social events, were safe, and received quality medical support when they needed it.

It is not what it seems. Very poor management who rule by intimidation and total lack of compassion. You would think they would have learned from their DOJ disaster of several years ago. Indifferent toward we residents and my wife and I have seen examples of how poorly they treat staff.

This facility is decorated for the finer appearance of better health care however this is not what this facility delivers. Everything leaks, which is understandable since it's had two major water leaks that required major renovation.Fine dining is a joke that consist of molded and spoiled food which they were sited for in their state inspection of 2014.It seems the image is luxury but the care and management is an epic fail.

Harbor's Edge is a nursing home. It provides medical nursing service for seniors with serious illnesses or disabilities twenty-four hours a day, delivered by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nurse aids.

Nursing care facilities cater to several types of patients: some patients require short-term rehab while recovering from surgery; others require long-term nursing and medical supervision. In addition, some nursing homes offer specialized care programs for Alzheimer's or other illnesses, or short-term respite care for frail or disabled persons when a family member requires a rest from providing care in the home. Please note that you can help compare nursing homes by looking at the Medicare ratings of a given facility (Medicare has a 5-star rating system for comparing nursing homes). There are various ways for paying for care in a nursing home. Make sure you know your loved one's Medicare and Medicaid eligibility, and understand how you can use tools like long term care insurance to pay for nursing home care.

Also, Harbor's Edge is an assisted living facility. Assisted living facilities are an apartment-style habitat designed to focus on providing assistance with daily living activities. They provide a higher level of service for the elderly which can include preparing meals, housekeeping, medication assistance, laundry, and also do regular check-in's on the residents. Basically, they are designed to bridge the gap between independent living and nursing home facilities. When thinking about how to pay for care, assisted living facilities are generally less expensive than nursing homes, if assisted living is a viable option for your loved one.

Also, Harbor's Edge is a Senior Community. Senior communities are for seniors who can take care of themselves. It is often a set of apartments in a variety of sizes from studios to large two bedrooms, where seniors live independently, but may receive additional services like transportation, pools, a convenience store, bank, barber/beauty shop, resident laundry, housekeeping, and security, are all services and amenities that may be provided there.

Also, Harbor's Edge facility provides Alzheimer's care. This means it has special safeguards for wandering seniors, and caregivers are trained in handling dementia behaviors.
