User Reviews

Sadly, our relative was only here for 5, difficult months. However, Aarondale's staff were great! They took excellent care of her and every person we interfaced with was kind, considerate, and respectful. If you are looking for a local community, this place is a hidden gem. Even the hospice nurse was impressed!

My wife had alzheimer’s and became unmanageable at home. Cursed out and appeared ready to physically attack helpers. Five each helpers from two companies for a total of ten. These were seasoned professional caregivers and few stayed for a week or more. This in spite of the fact I was bathing and changing my wife’s clothes at least once a day.

We visited a home in Maryland and five facilities in Virginia. I Initially did not plan to move in but the fifteen minutes a trip to meet Maria for meals and a short stay became intolerable in Northern VA traffic so I moved in after a year of commuting.

What a relief, we then sold the home we had for almost thirty years. After almost two years Maria succumbed on 23 April 2016 I have chosen to stay here at Aarondale.

Maria’s first year was in the memory care or “Laurels” part when I moved in she still had day space there but slept with me in the room we shared for sleeping.

She received professional, considerate, safe care in the Laurels both as a resident and as a daily visitor. She had progressed with the disease to the point where she was incapable of physical or mental performance beyond that of a three year old. Holding and talking to a doll in both her Native Spanish and sometimes in English. She did not dress herself, bathe herself. Until the last three months when she stopped eating, drinking and walking she was able to do those with increasing help.

Administrative issues involving coordination with financial institutions and long term care insurance providers were handled expeditiously and accurately.

In my opinion there is no better value than that available at Aarondale. Superb menus beautifully executed and served in the dining room and in the laurels. Assistance always available as needed, Care of medication delivery and supervision of taking is thorough.

Finally, cooperation with Hospice and timely recommendation about when the process should be started was perfect in my wife’s case. Assistance and support as I continue as a resident encourages taking advantage of the opportunity.
