User Reviews

07/01/2010  -  An OurParents User Writes:

We own two businesses in Deer Park WA and have been business owners for 16 yrs. there. Our grandmother family member suffering from dementia is at this home now.
The Clark Ranch home is large and spacious and clean. Rooms that are shared are still large enough for comfort and some privacy. Staff could be a bit more energetic for lack of a better word. They are there, efficient enough but not as I like to see it or would run it. The biggest issue that keeps this home from being a 5 star home is bascially just that. It shows in food prep as well, which would actually one of the two issues of concern the most. Meals are substandard and as they say they serve ethnic dishes, we have found this (so far) not to be.

There is a questionaire that is given up front and there are questions asked with reference to food likes/dislikes, etc. I filled it out for our family member so I know it was done.

Second, we were told something else that was not followed through with and that was doctor visits. We were assured that she could continue to see her own doctor, which is not an unreasonable distance away, and that they there at the Clark Ranch would take her once a month to see him. This has not happen, nor will happen now apparently as they have her seeing an in-house call doctor. This would seem fine, but it is not. Her regular Doctor was handpicked out for a reason, regardless... it still should have been done and taken care of.

There are farm animals at this home. Which is also one of the reasons why we chose this home for our family member as she use to have her own ranch and was a horse person. Never has she been escorted out to be with the animals, nor even taken out there. It would be reasonable for her to have an escort out as she has sight issues, but is perfectly cabable of doing this with a person to go with. This is bascially a part of what this facility offers, yet this non-energetic bunch does not go above and beyond as I would. For folks that are much less active physically or mentally, this home is fine. Our family member could use better service we feel as she is not hindered entirely.
