User Reviews

My mom has lived in the memory unit for several years. The staff has come and gone, but most of the ones I know left to go onto school. There are a lot that are there that was there when mom moved in. Mom has recieved good care and is doing well. The staff are good to her and with her. They are able to redirect her when she becomes upset and working with that population is tough on anyone. I know, I tried to care for mom myself and found out it wasn't possible. Thank you Woodmark for your love and care you provide.

Response: Interesting! 2 very favorable reviews within 4 minutes of each other using "insider" terminology such as "redirect" and "client?" What kind of family member would refer to their mom as "client?"

Response: Since when is "redirect" an insider phrase. If your family member has dementia, you quickly learn the words and cooresponding actions. And "client" was never used in either of the 2 comments.

I recently saw some low rating scores, and finally had to add mine. My Mother has been a resident for approx. 5 years, and neither she or the family could be happier with this facility and the love and care she receives. We researched several facilities before placing her at the Woodmark, and have visited many since. We still happily believe we made the right decision. She is WELL cared for and looked after, with the staff treating her like a personal friend or even family, not just a client. We could not feel safer or happier with Mom's care at thr Woodmark.

5 Executive Directors in less than 4 years. Very high turnover of staff. Numerous citations on annual surveys. Nurse deligation system has many problems. Staff not adequately trained in care of residents with dementia.

Response: Amen!

Response: Adding to my review, I neglected to say that most caregivers are wonderful and were very kind to my Mom. Sadly, many of the best have left to work for other facilities.

Description of Madrona Park in Federal Way, WA

Built In 1996 , Number of Beds : 101

Madrona Park offers assisted living, independent living, memory care, hospice and respite services and amenities for seniors. Assisted living is a good solution for seniors who require a little help but desire to preserve their self-reliance. Why choose assisted living? Studies reveal that living near peers and participating in social activities leads to a more fulfilling life. With assisted living, you'll find senior-friendly living options and a dedicated staff. Communities have additional services that include 24-hour supervision and security, emergency response systems, access to licensed nursing care, chef-prepared meals, and assistance with grooming, dressing, and bathing. Housekeeping, laundry, social programs, and local transportation are usually provided, too. This community, a comprehensive independent living community, allows you to do as you wish, when you wish, but without the burdens of home ownership that can tie you down and take up your time. Serving both individuals and couples, these senior communities are also known as senior apartments, retirement villages, and communities for 55 and older. Residents stay in private apartments or individual homes with a variety of community amenities, services, and programs tailored specifically for seniors. Your personal belongings, such as furniture and favorite mementos, can move to your new home with you. With maintenance, groundskeeping, and housekeeping taken care of, seniors can focus on goals and passions instead of the daily demands of home ownership. Because independent living communities are intended for older adults who need little or no assistance, most do not offer medical care or supervision. Community services and amenities usually include fitness clubs, dining facilities, swimming pools, golf courses, hiking trails, social events, and more. Memory care gives a higher level of attention, regular memory enhancement programs, and social opportunities, all in a secure, warm setting. Memory care is different from the care provided in assisted living, requiring a dedicated staff that is skilled in techniques unique to memory care. Residents live in private or semi-private residences with twenty-four-hour support. Three healthy meals a day plus snacks are provided, as well as housekeeping and laundry services. Structured activities designed specifically for memory impairment support mental stimulation. Grounds typically have secured areas, such as walking paths and gardens, for residents to enjoy. Behavioral therapies, continence care, medication management, and assistance with bathing and grooming are provided as well. Madrona Park provides a low-maintenance lifestyle and the assistance seniors need to enjoy retirement. With comprehensive assisted living, independent living, memory care, hospice and respite services, and with a caring environment, seniors can feel relaxed and secure. An assisted living community provides help when necessary with the goal of supplying the services required to stay as autonomous as possible. With independent living, you can do as you wish, when you wish, but without the burdens of home ownership that can take up your time. Memory care gives a higher level of attention, intellectual stimulation, along with comfortable, secure accommodations. Call for more information on how you can become part of the Madrona Park community.
