User Reviews

11/09/2010  -  An OurParents User Writes:

The owners have a direct role in the operation of the facility. During my mom's stay we needed additional cares for her due to her health. As an example after a hospital stay Gail's direct role, reviewing her medication list we were able to correct the discrepency between her previous orders and discharge orders. There are others however to many to list how the staff helped mom, the entertainment, the pleasent enviroment and the beautiful grounds gave our family comfort that she was in a safe and caring enviroment.

Find a warm greeting for your loved one at Landmark at Charleston House, offering the very best in assisted living, independent living, memory care and respite services. Assisted living communities provide a chore-free life and the support seniors need to maintain as much independence as possible. Living in a senior community has many advantages. Research suggests that seniors who live near their peers and have a variety of social activities feel a greater sense of well-being. With assisted living, you'll enjoy senior-friendly homes and a welcoming staff. Other services you'll find include around-the-clock supervision and security, access to professional nurses, emergency call systems, help with daily living, and nutritious meals prepared by chefs. These communities typically provide housekeeping, laundry, transportation, and a calendar of social events. Independent living is intended for seniors who are self-reliant but who want to enjoy a worry-free life. Developed for both individuals and couples, these senior communities are also known as retirement villages, 55+ communities, and senior apartments. Residents stay in private apartments or individual homes with a range of community amenities, services, and programs tailored just for seniors. You'll have your own private space, so you can bring your favorite furniture, photos, and cookware. You’ll be able to spend time pursuing activities that you enjoy since tasks commonly associated with homeownership will be taken care of. Because independent living communities are intended for older adults who need little or no assistance, most do not offer medical care or supervision. You’ll find many social programs and community amenities, such as gardening, bridge, bingo, fitness programs, book clubs, and planned outings. The staff at Landmark at Charleston House has a special place in its collective heart for residents and their families who must deal, day by day, with the daily effects of Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Alzheimer’s specialists work hand-in-hand with families, loved ones, and the Landmark at Charleston House staff to ensure that residents receive the comprehensive treatment they need. Memory care is different from the care provided in assisted living, requiring a team that is professionally trained in memory care. Residents live in private or semi-private studio homes with twenty-four-hour supervision. Three nutritious meals a day plus snacks are provided, as well as housekeeping and laundry services. Structured activities designed specifically for memory impairment offer cognitive stimulation. Facilities typically have secured areas, such as walking paths and gardens, for residents to access. Other important services include behavioral therapies, continence care, medication management, and assistance with bathing and grooming. Reside at Landmark at Charleston House and enjoy an exciting new chapter of life, where seniors can share stories and enjoy the companionship of peers.
