Now that I need to find a place for my father, & I've done a-lot of Soul Searching, & asked myself.. "Would I put my father in Huntington Place, Owned by 5 Star Senior Living, knowing what I know from working there". My answer was "No". The 5 Star Business itself is about cost cutting, & savings. Not about Patient Quality, & nor Patient comfort. They have understaffed the facility since 5 star took over, & especially in the newer unit just opened, where Patient needs are "Advanced Care". 1 nurse for 19 patients at night. 1 has already died. They under staff everywhere, & even in the Kitchen. During the Breakfast, & lunch (day) shift, they have a dish washer, 2 Chef's (including the Kitchen Manager whose a chef), & they have people to help serve, & deliver to meals to all the other buildings (4 of them). At night.. the super shift.. they have 1 chef, that suppose to do all the positions (e.g. Cook, Clean, Serve, take out garbage, deliver food to all buildings. This is the Worst (IMO from my experiences working for these facilities) Senior care facility, & when I left, a poor lady had just died choking on applesauce! (Under Staffing). If you have someone you care about there, check on them often.. & unannounced,

Response: From the management of Huntington Place: We were quite concerned to read this review as it simply is not true. Our newly renovated Memory Care Neighborhood is appropriated staffed round the clock. Our Resident Services Director, a Registered Nurse, is located in Memory Care. We provide consistent, compassionate, attentive care to every resident. Certainly, no-one has died due to neglect or poor care within our Memory Care community; any incidences would be reportable to the State of Wisconsin as we are a licensed Community Based Residential Facility. Our memory care residents often arrive with advanced neurological and physical challenges. We strive to ensure that our residents receive an appropriate attention and care at all times. We invite you to visit Huntington Place to see for yourself.

Can NOT recommend this facility due to staff. The facility itself is nice enough, but staff needs to be trained in how to deal with dementia, instead of just medicating.

Lack of understanding in nutritional needs of elderly, not providing nourishment though out the day. Over medicating to the point of the resident sleeping all day and all night, not being able to eat.
Leaving residents sitting in chair for the entire night, without changing wet undergarments, is unacceptable. I found my family member laying on the floor at 630am, and was told that she spent the night there. Her leg was swollen and hot from not having any pillow between her knees. She was in extreme pain due to her arthritis, and no one seemed overly concerned. Other times she was told to stay in her room, instead of providing some activity or interacting with her.
This facility could be very nice, it is the staff that needs changing.

Staff needs to be monitored more as to their methods of dealing with dementia residents. Medication should not be used as the only way to deal with elderly.
