Some RN's and a few CNA's are very good and the Staff Helpfulness and Quality of Care would've been 5 stars except that I've always noticed an obvious lack of work ethic and compassion from certain CNA's and RN's who come off as "I've been here forever and I'm set in my ways and if you don't like it I don't care because I'm a Rock County union worker and I know it would take an act of God to fire me" attitude.
The Cleanliness rating will really go up to 5 stars when they move into the new building in a couple of weeks but right now the building is just simply old. I've seen the new building from a distance and it looks really nice. I will update my rating when I get to go into the new building.
I think that a lot of the time a County nursing home gets a bad rap because private sector nursing homes have nicer facilities and better paid (and thus better overall) staff. However, there is also a cost associated with that care. I simply cannot afford some other places. I can spot lazy from a mile away and there are some real gems at Rock Haven... However there are also a lot of really good newer nurses. I'm just hoping that the good effects the bad and not vice versa. Time will tell but I also believe a new building will help, in that when you go to work in a building thats falling apart you may be mentally beat before your shift even starts.

Rock Haven has to battle UNDESERVED negative stereotypes daily, because it's county-owned. However, my mother loves it there & NO competitor has better staff!
