My father received excellent care at this facility. The staff and administration went out of their way to provide the best care possible. The Activities Department kept him engaged and active both at Bell Tower Residence and in the community. The trips around the community were always welcomed. The chaplains on staff provided him with a listening ear. Although run by the Holy Cross Sisters, a Catholic group of religious women, they also provided ministers the opportunity to use the facility for non-denominational services. We didn't have to move dad when things progressed. Hospice helped along with the staff and he stayed in the same room. Thank you Bell Tower Residence.

Bell Tower residence provided my mother care for approx. 5 years. Please read the entire review. During her initial years, when she wa mostly able to care for herself, it was a great place for her to live. Easy access to bus for trips into town, clinic and hospital. CNAs there provided her care as needed. BUT...as her needs grew, and her provider designated care level increased (meaning you pay more) her needs were not met. Yes, her needs were greater, but management DID NOT PROVIDE STAFFING TO ENABLE THE AIDES TO PROVIDE THE CARE MY MOTHER PAID FOR. Staffing is minimal to say the least, so CNAs are not able to provide the care that residents need. On the day shift, there is an RN or LPN for each floor. On the evening or night shift, and weekends from Friday about 4 to Monday at about 8, there is not. So as your parents needs increase, there will be no new treatments or medications started until Monday. Now this may not sound like a problem to you... What if you parent gets an infection? No antibiotics until Monday. When we moved mom in, it was with the understanding that she wouldn't have to move again. She did not have an IV, catheter, or any other assistive technology except oxygen. When WE finally nade the difficult decision to place her in a nursing home, the care far exceeded the little more we paid. I have talked to others who had the same experiences at Bell Tower. It is a very pretty place, clean, and the CNAs are very good. Management will decieve you (yes, the ARE nuns) into thinking its all your partne will ever need. All I can say is beware, watch your bill, and be there with your parent as often as you can because YOU will need to eversee the care yourself.

Response: I disagree with the above comment. After my father has moved several places because of his health, I have found my father had the best care that we could ask for. Bell Tower is an assisted living facility which they clearly explain that Nursing is not needed but is provided. We found that the management were very helpful if questions or concerns came up on weekends. They have nurses on call and assisted us 24 hours a day. Medications and other antibiotics are not just given monday through friday. My fathers medications were given on weekends. My father was well taken care of by the CNA's. This person complained of paying more as the level of issues increased? I found that the more my father could do, the less it was. As he began to fail, prices were fixed in accordance to his care. Why wouldn't you expect that? I compliment Bell Tower for charging what is only right. The other place charge one fee, which my father paid as much as someone who need a lot more care. That was not fair. Also, the activities department was out of this world. So many activities for him to choose from and kept him active with quality activities. Activities were not just ball toss. I found the Activity Director really had many helpful ideas to help keep my father active and was very well educated in dementia and alzheimer's. I know many people in Merrill that would agree with me that Bell Tower was a great place to put my father and i have never doubted my decision.
